Velvet Cloak Smoke Bush This beautiful shrub or small tree is an upright growing selection that has stunning deep purple foliage turning a blazing orange-red in autumn. Flower plumes, which appear after flowering give a smokey haze to branch tips, hence the name smoke tree. Cotinus are outstanding specimens in a shrub border, and are a great choice for planting in groups or for hedging. This variety prefers a moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Can grow in full sun or partial shade. Can tolerate drought once established and tolerates cold weather. |
