Katsura Tree A deciduous tree with a pyramidal habit when young, gaining a more rounded shape when mature. The leaves are heart shaped and have a coppery-green hue when they emerge, turning dark green and then colouring to yellowy-red in autumn. This tree has inconspicuous flowers and its value as an ornamental tree lies in its dramatic foliage. Fallen leaves smell of burnt sugar when crushed. An excellent frost hardy specimen tree. Makes a lovely feature tree in a large gardens, parks and acreage. Suitable for colder climate gardens, should cope with frosts and light snow. Requires a moist position for best results. |
