Pyramidal Silver Maple This is a large deciduous tree with a columnar form in early years, developing a more rounded crown in maturity making it pyramidal in shape. Foliage is dark green with a grey-white underside. In autumn, foliage turns a yellow and bronze with new spring growth opening in redish-blue tones. Flowers are greenish-yellow but inconspicuous. Considered a fast-growing but shallow-rooted with strong branching roots and fibrous rootlets. With competitive surface roots, this tree suits areas where fast shade is needed. Pretty autumnal colour makes it an attractive feature. This tree is known for having a high tolerance for poor soils, heat and drought. |
