When deciduous Magnolia is in flower it is a joy to the eye. This particular one with the stunning deep purple goblet flower is called Magnolia x soulangeana 'Black Tulip'. It makes a wonderful specimen tree which is (as shown) bare-limbed and in flower during late winter. In summer it is flush with matt green foliage.
Another stunner is Magnolia x soulangeana 'Vulcan' which produces flowers a deep musk pink/warm purple. Both are available now to purchase in 40cm and 50cm containers with more due for sale in December.
