After 18 years the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is still regarded as the largest and most successful horticultural event in the Southern Hemisphere and is ranked in the top five flower shows in the world!
So much work goes on behind the scenes to make this an award-winning show. And like ourselves, there are many businesses that supply into this event every year to make it the enormous success it is. This year we are pleased to be involved in these key exhibitions:
Even at this pre-show stage, we are excited about this year's show and the quality of displays on offer to the public. In anticipation of a great visual feast once the show opens, we would like to in the very least whet the appetite of readers with what we have supplied so far in readiness of things to come....
One of the main winners last year with a stunning creative display of plants and trees in the landscape is the combined Tree and Shrub Growers stand. This year's design is expected to be nothing short of exceptional. We have donated a number of trees into this exhibit including Jacaranda, Agonis flexuosa, Citrus, Banksia, Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' and Magnolia Teddy Bear.
The Student Design Competition is at MIFGS again this year and we have a few glorious 100 litre Lagerstroemia Sioux going into the Natural Design Stand (A92). This event offers a real oportunity to showcase up and coming landscape designers.
For a fantastic view of their stand going up and an understanding of the work involved in exhibiting at MIFGS, check out the Natural Design facebook page here. Great work guys!
On behalf of Rick Eckersley and his team at Eckersley Garden Architecture, we have supplied seven specially selected 100 litre Pyrus nivalis and a beautiful 100 litre Gleditsia 'Shademaster' for the House & Garden Stand (A77).
With their involvement we are sure it will be an attractive and sophisticated landscape design.
Keep an eye out for 3 stunning 200 litre Acer 'Jeffersred' large leaf maples on the Bella Botanics stand (A81). These are only just beginning to show signs of turning their various mixtures of red, yellow and orange.
We also have 4 150 litre Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' in Waddell Landscapes exhibition (Stand A72). Like canadian maples, these are big leafed and beautiful with the promise of great colour in autumn.
